Who we are
Joseph Orchard joined bere:architects as a Part 1 Architectural Assistant in May 2010.
After graduating in 2009 from Newcastle-Upon-Tyne University with a First-class honours degree in Architecture, Joseph worked in the voluntary organisation archiGRAD. With other keen architecture graduates joined together to provide design advice for the communities of the North East, Joseph helped identify architectural patterns and problems in the built environment and worked on projects such as a creative quarter for Gateshead, developing a model similar to the 798 art district in Beijing.
After working with archiGRAD Joseph moved to London and joined bere:architects. Joseph has always been an advocator of thoughtful environmental design: he has worked on Breeam excellence projects, and his final year university project was an initial exploration into Passivhaus design based on a thermal bridge free gymnasium featuring heat recovery ventilation. Alongside architectural design Joseph is also interested in graphic design creating many thoughtfully and beautifully laid out posters, lecture layouts and competition entries.
In common with many of the bere:architects’ team, Joseph is an enthusiastic cyclist whether its MTB, road cycling, or riding his much cherished Brompton.
